Art Survey is a two credit hour general education course that provides students with a basic foundation to art, art theory, and art criticism. Each of the art department faculty has taken a turn teaching art survey, introducing students to professional artists, local area art, and various mediums and approaches to art making.
In Professor Leah Samuelson’s art survey, students are given the opportunity to experiment with some traditional art mediums. This initial exposure evolves into a final group project that brings together a number of topics and artworks that have been explored during the quad. With the end of A quad, the first round of art survey has come to a close. For the final, each group presented their hand made quilt project, along with a poem introducing and explaining their work.
