The annual juried student art exhibition Nonword & Upward was a great success this year with submissions aplenty!  This exhibition, though a requirement for all Wheaton College Art Majors, is open to the entire student population here on campus and is an exciting way for all students to have a chance for their work to be displayed.

Our Juror, Suellen Rocca, Director of Exhibitions at Elmhurst College, came out and graciously took on the challenging job of selecting our winners this year. There is always quite a bit of anticipation in the air leading up to the reception whereupon awards ($) are announced, and this year was no exception either.

The award recipients for 2009 are as follows:

Best of Show – Luke Ross for his ceramic piece entitled, “Large Vessel”

1st Place – Kelly Lemon for her video installation entitled, “Leaving Your Mark”

2nd Place – Johnathan Harrell for his digital photograph entitled, “I Am a Little World”

Honorable Mentions went to Angela Pope for her video piece, “Supermarket”, and to Kai Mazurczyk for her untitled paper piece.

Thanks to all who participated!
