Keeping up with the artistic lives and endeavors of our alumni is something we are working on, but every now and then we are fortunate enough to have something roll into our office without any digging. Cayce Zavaglia (’94) went on from Wheaton to Washington University in St. Louis to pursue her MFA and has stitched together a wonderful and inspiring body of paintings since then. Her work deserves and requires a closer look for more reasons than one. The presence of her subjects and the power of the images seems to defy both her material and her method – embroidery, or to be more specific, “renegade embroidery” as she likes to call it. With that, I leave you to read the Elle Decor article about Cayce and her unique, captivating and meticulously crafted work. Click here and go to her “News” page, whereupon a link to the PDF file is available. We are excited to have learned of her work and hope that you are too!
